The 6th edition of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Catalonia is here
- This weekend the Logitech G World RX of the Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 (R7) and the Logitech G World RX of Catalunya-Barcelona (R8) of the FIA Rallycross World Championship will be held at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit.
- The event will be held behind closed doors as a measure to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic.
The FIA World Rallycross Championship arrives in Catalonia for the sixth consecutive year. After being postponed last March, due to the health crisis resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, the engines of the Supercars will roar again at the Circuit on October 17th and 18th.
For the first time, and as an exceptional measure, the Barcelona-Catalonia Circuit will host two rounds of the World RX: on Saturday (R7) the Logitech G World RX of Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 will be held, giving visibility to the pre-Olympic project for the Pyrenees and Barcelona to host the 2030 Winter Olympics. The Logitech G World RX of Catalunya will be held on Sunday (R8). This measure helps reduce team travel and make the entire championship safer. In both days, the Euro RX Super1600 category, will also feature tests.
The races, live on the Esport3 channel and streaming
The event, although not held in public, can be followed widely in Catalonia on television on the Esport3 channel and internationally through the Youtube channel of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
On Saturday at the Logitech G World RX of Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 (R7) the qualifying sessions will start at 10:20 am (Q1) and will last until 1:40 pm when Q3 will start. After the qualifying rounds, the semifinals of the Super1600 category will take place. At the afternoon, from 4 pm, the live broadcast of the final rounds will begin. The World RX semifinals will start at 5pm, followed by the Super1600 and World RX finals.
The next day, the same time structure will be repeated at the Logitech G World RX of Catalunya (R8), but the event will start an hour earlier, at 9.30 am with the Q1 of the World RX and the Super1600. In the afternoon, at 3 pm, the live broadcast of the preview of the World RX semifinals will begin, which will start at 4 pm. After the semifinals, the finals of Super1600 and World RX will start.
The paddock, prepared and armored against the Covid-19
The teams that will take part in the Logitech G World RX of Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 and the Logitech G World RX of Catalunya are already at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya preparing for the weekend’s tests. The paddock will be fully protected from the Covid-19, as maximum safety measures have been applied to ensure the health of all teams, pilots and organization that will participate in the event.
