The fourth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship 2015 has been for the current leader of the competition, Petter Solberg (Citroen DS3). The Swede Mattias Ekström (Audi Quattro S1 EKS RX) ended second and third was Johan Kristoffersson (VW Polo R WRX).

The Norwegian began the weekend with brilliantly, winning Heats 1 and 2 held on Saturday. But the morning of the second day of competition was not as good as Saturday due to some problems with the engine, and the Citroen driver couldn’t be the fastest in Heat 3 and 4. Still, Solberg qualified for the semifinal, in which he again returned to be at a high level and achieved the first place in his round and obtained passage to the final, which he won with a minimum lead of 40 hundreths. “It’s been a fantastic weekend: good weather, a lot of people, a fantastic atmosphere and some really close racing. We had some issues with the car’s engine this morning but everything was working well for the semis and then I just pushed really hard in the final. I pushed so hard that I even got a puncture on the last corner, I was driving at my limit!”

With the victory, the Monster Energy rider reaches his second victory of the season and increases his lead in the overall standings of the FIA World Rallycross Championship 2015. Solberg now totals 112 points, 29 more than his pursuer Johan Kristoffersson. Andreas Bakkerund currently closes the Top-3 of the 2015 Championship with 77 points.

The next round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship will be the weekend of 19-21 June in Germany, to be held in the circuit Estering. At that time, we will be at three months of the novelty of the season, Barcelona Rallycross which will be held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in September.
