If last week was already full of news, this one is even more loaded. Almost all teams that will participate in the FIA World Rallycross Championship have their drivers confirmed for this season 2017.

We start with the Peugeot Hansen team, which will continue with three drivers in the Supercar WorldRX category. The nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb repeats his presence this season after the good results and experiences in the last season. The French driver is adapting very well to the rallycross format and will fight for the podium in all races. The team is completed with the two Hansen brothers. Timmy, the oldest, returns a year after reaffirming himself as one of the most competitive drivers in the championship. The youngblood  Kevin, climbs to the Supercar WorldRX category after being crowned as EuroRX champion in 2016, so Peugeot will be a strong candidate for the team title in 2017.

Another great news this week is the presentation of the third driver of the Audi EKS team. The young Latvian driver Reiniss Nitiss will be in charge of driving the third Audi S1RX of the grid and will join Mattias Ekström and Toomas Heikkinen forming one of the most talented teams of the championship. “Changing to the World Champion team is every rider’s dream,” Nitiss said. “It’s a unique opportunity and I’m exceptionally happy that Audi and EKS are putting their trust in me.”

Following the good news we have the confirmation that the English driver Guy Wilks returns to the FIA World RX Championship, but this time to run all the tests of the world. After the bad results in his last season entries with Mini, the English rider will race with a VW PoloRX, the same used by Johan Kristoffersson in 2016. “Getting the opportunity to make the World Championship complete is something that always I wanted, ” says Wilks, who will enter as an independent pilot and will be backed by the LOCO energy drink.

Janis Baumanis also confirms her participation this season and will also be backed by LOCO energy drink. Latvian and Russian Timur Timerzyanov make up the new STARD team, a project developed by Stohl Racing, led by Manfred Stohl. He concluded: “I already participated in the World RX in 2015, then as a driver and quickly became a big fan of this modality. We will compete with two Ford Fiesta RXS Evo 3 – based on the cars STARD developed in 2015 And optimized for the RX World Austria team in 2016. Our development engineers have worked intensively on another update for the 2017 Evo 3 version and with Janis and Timur we have two high level drivers. “

All these riders will meet in the inaugural race of the season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 1 and 2 April.
