The second round of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship has had a clearly dominant: Petter Solberg. The beginning was not easy since Friday, when Heats 1 and 2 were held, he had some grip problems but the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Champion took its best to come out on top in Hockenheim: first position in the Heats 3 and 4 held on Saturday, and on Sunday victory in the semifinals and the big final. With these results, Solberg counts 57 points that allow him to lead the overall standings of the 2015.
Reinis Nitiss Olsbergs MSE Ford team and Timmy Hansen of Team Peugeot Hansen have completed the podium in Hockenheim. Nitiss, with only 19 years old, he has completed a great weekend finishing in second place in the intermediate classification (after the conclusion of the 4 Heats) and 2nd in the final. “I am very happy, we are getting closer and closer to Petter all the time, but I guess that he has been in cars for longer than I have been alive,” he joked. For his part, Hansen, who has not been really good over the weekend, choose the best strategy in the final and with it has won the 3rd place and sum and two podiums in two races.
It was the first time the rallycross had an appointment at the iconic F1 circuit in Hockenheim and the public did not want to miss the chance to see the great spectacle of WorldRX in Germany. More than 75,000 people have been at the German circuit over the weekend, which also celebrated the opening round of the 2015 DTM series with Spanish drivers Miguel Molina and Dani Juncadella.
The next round of the World Championship Rallycross will be the weekend of 15 to 17 May in the circuit of Mettet in Belgium. It will be 7 rounds left for the Rallycross in Barcelona in September.
