The International Automobile Federation (FIA) launched the “Action for Road Safety” which aims to raise awareness of the importance of road safety campaign. It counts with some ambassadors as the Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton and the stars of FIA World Endurance Championship Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi. Now, Petter Solberg has announced that he also provides support.

Petter Solberg, the only driver who has achieved two titles in two world FIA competitions WRC and World Rallycross, joins the campaign launching some strong messages:

“Every 30 seconds somebody is killed on the roads and each year there is 1.3 million people that die in road accidents around the world. That is twice the population of Oslo which is a frightening statistic and one that we need to reduce. If everyone signs the pledge and follows the simple advice, there will be a significant improvement in road safety.”

The campaign wants to introduce its 10 golden rules for behavior on the roads. They are 10 simple rules to remember:

1. Passengers are responsible for who leads.

2. Respect the highway code.

3. Maintain the speed limit.

4. Check the condition of the tires.

5. Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

6. Take the kids in the right seats.

7. Do not use mobile phone.

8. Rest in case of fatigue.

9. Wear a helmet.

10. Respect other drivers.
