LOEB joins Hyundai.
A new name will join the roster of Huyndai for the 2019 WRC season, as the nine-time champion, Sébastien Loeb, has signed a two-year contract with the Korean brand.
The Frenchman will compete in six rounds of the championship in an i20 Coupe WRC along with long-time
co-driver Daniel Elena, starting at the Monte-Carlo Rally.
The French driver has explaines in his social networks the reasons for this surprising decision. The latest strategic decisions of PSA have ended with a relationship that seemed unbreakable. The cancellation of the program in the FIA World Rallycross Championship by Peugeot and the lack of a place in Citroën for the WRC are the two reasons that led to the departure of the Frenchman.
2019 will put an end to a 17-year relationship between the two parts; one of the longest in the motorsport history.
The entrance of Seb in Hyundai gives some hope to all rallycross fans, who wish to continue seeing one of their favs on the rallycross tracks. All is in the hands of the Gronhölm Racing Team and its Hyundai i20RX, which could add French to its line of drivers.
The latter are just rumors and nothing is confirmed yet but we hope to have Loeb on the grid for the CatalunyaRX next April 27 and 28: http://bit.ly/2SOeV0U
