Sebastian Loeb wins the World RX of Belgium ahead of Petter Solberg and Timmy Hansen
Sebastien Loeb conquered the World RX of Belgium, at the Jules Tacheny circuit of Mettet. The Peugeot Total driver started from second on the grid, behind Johan Krstoffersson, the winner of the two previous World Cup races (Barcelona and Portugal).
Everything predicted that Kristoffersson would compete for the race, but on the way out he almost capsized, which would make him lose a time that would be vital to compete for the victory. The French driver dominated the race and knew when to make the Joker Lap to take advantage of his rivals. In the end, Petter Solberg, who came third, was the only one who disputed the race (2). But nothing could with Loeb’s desire to climb back to the top step of the podium. It was not achieved from the WRX of Latvia 2016. The third position was for Timmy Hansen, who started the race from the last position.
Kristoffersson had to settle for fifth place. Except for this bad result, it keeps the 9 points with respect to the second classified, but this time to Sebastien Loeb. Andreas Bakkerud, who was second in the general standings, finished last and distanced himself from the top spots of the World Cup. The other Audi driver, Mattias Ekström (4), was reunited with the points after being out of the final in the World RX Montalegre.
